Bo Bichette Linked to Boston as Blue Jays Delay Major Decision

Bo Bichettes offseason outlook grows more uncertain as rival interest heats up and Torontos silence raises questions about his future.

Bo Bichette’s postseason heroics-especially that Game 7 performance against the Dodgers-felt like the kind of moment that cements a long-term future with a team. But here we are in late December, and the Toronto Blue Jays still haven’t locked him up. While Toronto’s front office has been active this offseason, Bichette’s name remains curiously absent from their list of signings.

Instead, the Blue Jays have been linked to other big names, including Kyle Tucker, who’s reportedly emerged as a top target. That’s not to say Bichette is out of the picture entirely, but it’s clear he’s not the priority right now. And with Toronto also making moves on the pitching front-adding Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce-it looks like they’re playing a long game, trying to balance win-now talent with roster flexibility.

Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are keeping close tabs on this market too. They’ve been connected to Bichette, but it’s Alex Bregman who seems to be their top target.

According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, Bregman’s leadership and ability to elevate the players around him make him an ideal fit in Boston. In Rosenthal’s words, “This is a guy, a rare player, who helps make teammates better.”

That kind of presence in the clubhouse can be just as valuable as a 30-homer season.

Still, Bichette remains a compelling option for Boston. He showed in the World Series that he can handle second base, and his versatility could give the Red Sox some interesting infield combinations. While Bregman is clearly Plan A, Bichette isn’t a bad Plan B-especially if Boston doesn’t want to wait forever for Bregman’s price to come down.

The Red Sox have the financial muscle to make a splash, and they’re in the market for another impact bat even with Willson Contreras already on board. Whether that ends up being Bregman or Bichette could come down to timing, fit, and how the market shakes out over the next few weeks.

As for Bichette, he’s not sitting still. He’s reportedly open to exploring all opportunities, and with several top-tier free agents still unsigned-names like Cody Bellinger, Kyle Tucker, and Framber Valdez among them-the market remains fluid. Bichette might not be the first domino to fall, but he’s not going to be waiting around forever either.

Bottom line: Bichette’s next move will be one to watch. Whether it’s a return to Toronto, a fresh start in Boston, or another contender stepping in, the two-time All-Star is one of the most intriguing names still on the board.
