Blue Jays Stun Fans by Naming New Voice to Replace Martinez

The Toronto Blue Jays have appointed seasoned broadcaster Joe Siddall as their new television analyst, stepping in for the legendary Buck Martinez.

In the world of Toronto Blue Jays baseball, Buck Martinez is a name that resonates deeply. His legacy as a player, manager, and most prominently, a TV analyst, is etched into the team's history. But as all great eras come to an end, a new chapter begins with Joe Siddall stepping into the analyst role for the Blue Jays' television network.

Joe Siddall is no stranger to Blue Jays fans. Last year, he admirably filled in for Martinez during his medical leave, showcasing his knack for insightful and engaging analysis. Now, he’s set to partner with the renowned play-by-play announcer Dan Shulman for the majority of the 2026 season, covering 125 to 130 games.

Martinez, who retired after the Blue Jays' thrilling 2025 World Series journey, leaves behind a storied career. At 77, his voice was a staple for U.S. audiences through his work with ESPN, including the iconic broadcast of Cal Ripken’s record-breaking 2,131st consecutive game, which earned him a Sports Emmy. Yet, it’s his six seasons as a Blue Jays player and his brief managerial stint that cemented his connection to Toronto.

Joe Siddall’s journey to this point is equally compelling. A Windsor, Ontario native, Siddall transitioned from the Blue Jays radio team to television in 2018, working alongside Jamie Campbell on Blue Jays Central. His versatility was on full display in 2025 as he split duties between the broadcast booth and Blue Jays Central.

Siddall’s baseball career is rich with experience. He spent 13 years as a professional catcher with teams like the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Red Sox. His MLB tenure included stints with Montreal, Florida, and Detroit, providing him with a wealth of firsthand knowledge to share with fans.

Beyond baseball, Siddall also showcased his athletic prowess as a quarterback for Central Michigan University, further highlighting his diverse sports background.

As Siddall takes his place in the broadcast booth, Blue Jays fans can look forward to a season filled with expert insights and engaging storytelling, continuing the legacy of excellence that Buck Martinez so brilliantly established.
