Texas Tech Homecoming Just Got Bigger For An Unbeaten Red Raiders Team

Fans eagerly anticipate Texas Tech's homecoming clash with Arizona State as both teams prepare to battle under the spotlight of national television.

Texas Tech’s homecoming matchup with Arizona State now has a kickoff time: the Red Raiders and Sun Devils will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 in Lubbock, with FOX carrying the broadcast.

The timing comes with Texas Tech carrying plenty of momentum into its open date. The Red Raiders are 5-0 and have climbed to No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the US LBM Coaches Poll after moving up one spot in each ranking.

This game also brings together the last two Big 12 champions. Texas Tech will take a 11-game home winning streak into the matchup, its longest run inside Galaxy Stadium since the 2007-09 campaigns. That streak is tied for the fifth longest in the FBS heading into this weekend.

Arizona State was the only regular-season team to beat Texas Tech last year, ending the Red Raiders’ 6-0 start before Tech responded by winning its next five games by an average of 35.0 points. The two programs have split their last six meetings, including the pair of Big 12 games played over the last two seasons.

At home, Texas Tech has had the upper hand. The Red Raiders are 2-0 against Arizona State in Lubbock, including a 52-45 win to wrap up their non-conference series in 2017 and a 30-22 victory in the 2024 Big 12 opener for both teams. Arizona State answered that 2024 loss by winning eight of its next nine, capped by a 45-19 win over Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship.

Tickets are already spoken for in one respect: Texas Tech says the game is a sellout, its fourth advanced sellout of the season and its 11th straight dating back to the 2025 season. Fans still looking for seats are being directed to SeatGeek, the school’s official secondary ticket provider.

Jacob Rodriguez Is Giving Texas Tech Fans A New NFL Story To Follow

Jacob Rodriguez has become one of the early surprises worth tracking for Texas Tech fans, and he is doing it in a role that usually takes time for a rookie to earn. The former Red Raider middle linebacker has piled up 46 tackles through four games for the Miami Dolphins, good for second in the NFL, and he led the team with 18 stops in a recent game against the Minnesota Vikings.

What makes the start even more notable is the trust Miami has already placed in him. Rodriguez has been the only rookie wearing the green dot helmet, a sign he is handling the defensive play calls, and he is doing it while sharing a roster with other Texas Tech alumni such as linebacker Jordyn Brooks and wide receiver Caleb Douglas. Douglas is currently sidelined by injury, but Rodriguezs rise gives Red Raiders fans another NFL storyline to keep an eye on. [Read more 🡒]

Mateen Ibirogbas Big Night Meant More Than Just Another Texas Tech Sack

Mateen Ibirogbas sack against Colorado was the kind of play Texas Tech fans have come to expect from a disruptive defensive front, but this one carried a little extra weight. It helped swing momentum and set up a touchdown, while also fitting neatly into a larger season-long effort tied to Texas Tech Athletics partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest.

Every sack by the Red Raiders this season is part of a fundraising push encouraging fans to donate in support of the charitys work with families whose children are receiving medical care. The idea gives each backfield takedown a purpose beyond the box score, linking Texas Techs defense to a cause that provides housing and respite services when families need them most. [Read more 🡒]

Colorado Fans Can Feel The Pressure Building Around Isaac Wilson

The Buffaloes came out of their 29-7 loss to No. 12 Texas Tech with more questions than answers on offense, and Isaac Wilson was front and center in the postgame discussion. Colorados quarterback took responsibility for the struggles after throwing for 290 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions, a line that reflected both his volume and the mistakes that kept the Buffaloes from building anything sustainable against a ranked opponent.

Deion Sanders didnt name the spot directly, but he said there was a problem at one position and made it clear the issue deserved attention even as he praised the defenses effort. With Colorados skid continuing and the offense still searching for stability, the pressure is only growing around Wilson and the role hes being asked to fill. [Read more 🡒]
