Texas Tech's quarterback, Brendan Sorsby, recently shared some intriguing insights about his budding relationship with Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce during an episode of The Hard Count with J.D. Pickell.
After transferring to Texas Tech from Cincinnati earlier this year, Sorsby received a surprise message from Mahomes, sparking a connection between the two. Sorsby expressed his excitement about the interaction and revealed his plans to train with both Mahomes and Kelce later this summer as he gears up for his final college season.
"Getting a text from Mahomes was pretty surreal," Sorsby shared. "I've started to build a bit of a relationship with him.
Travis also reached out when I announced my commitment to Texas Tech. He joked around with me, saying, 'You're dead to me,' with laughing emojis.
We chat fairly regularly. I know they're busy, but I'm hopeful we'll train together this summer."
The path Sorsby took, transferring from Cincinnati to Texas Tech, contrasts with the college journeys of Mahomes and Kelce. Both played three seasons at their respective schools, with Mahomes at Texas Tech and Kelce at Cincinnati, back when it was part of the Big East.
Currently, Sorsby is embroiled in a legal battle with Cincinnati over a disputed $1 million exit fee. The lawsuit alleges that Sorsby breached his NIL agreement by not paying the fee within 30 days of his transfer, as reported by Mark Schlabach of ESPN.
Despite the legal wrangling, Sorsby is set to earn a significant sum during his season with Texas Tech, reportedly $5 million or more. This should not only cover his legal expenses but perhaps also fund a summer training session with Mahomes and Kelce.
