Hickory also got a steady night from the bats behind him. Yolfran Castillo finished 2 for 3 with a walk, while Jay McQueen, Kaden Carpenter and Sebastian Baquera each chipped in a hit and a walk.
Hub City leaned on Jormy Nivar, and he delivered exactly the kind of start a staff wants. Nivar went six shutout innings and allowed just one walk. At the plate, Evan Morris picked up a hit and Eduardo Mejia added a double.
Frisco’s pitching line had a little more chaos to it, but there were bright spots mixed in. Joey Danielson worked two scoreless innings, striking out two and walking one.
Thomas Ireland followed with a shutout inning of his own and struck out two. Josh Trentadue was tagged for four runs in 1.1 innings, striking out two and walking two, while Eric Loomis walked all four hitters he faced, throwing 16 balls and four strikes.
Bryan Magdaleno also logged 1.2 innings, striking out two and walking two.
Frisco’s offense did its part to stack up some loud individual nights. Gleider Figuereo went 2 for 4 with a double.
Malcolm Moore also finished 2 for 4, and his night included a homer. Sebastian Walcott doubled, Dylan Dreiling went 2 for 6 with a double, and Arturo Disla went 2 for 3 with a homer and two walks.
