Rangers City Connect Leak Gets Even Worse

Rangers' latest City Connect jersey leaks hint at a return to roots, sparking debate over design choices and mascot retirement.

The retirement of the Peagle mascot following the 2025 season marks a new era for the Rangers, as they prepare to unveil their latest City Connect jersey. Fans are buzzing, but not all feedback has been positive.

Recently, social media was set ablaze with leaked images of the Rangers' rumored new jersey design, alongside those of the Orioles, Pirates, Padres, and Brewers. The new Texas jersey is set to make a bold return to red, featuring "Tejas" emblazoned across the chest, keeping things simple yet striking.

Accompanying the jersey is a leaked hat design, all red, showcasing the team's classic Cooperstown Collection "T" logo, a nod to their storied past.

However, the departure from the beloved Peagle mascot for a more straightforward design has some fans divided. Nike's City Connect jerseys have historically been hit or miss, and this latest iteration is no exception.

The first version of the Rangers' City Connect jersey faced criticism, particularly for its dark navy blue pants. Yet, over time, it grew on fans, offering a unique flair to Friday night home games over the past three seasons.

The Peagle, a mythical Griffin-like mascot, became a fan favorite, embodying the rich baseball history of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Its absence is felt, as the new design lacks the distinctive charm that made the previous look so memorable.

The rumored replacement features a unique Mayan pattern on the sleeves and inside the hat, with "Viva Tejas" adorning the lower left side of the jersey. Despite these elements, some fans feel it falls flat, especially when compared to the previous cream-colored top, navy blue pants, and red accents.

While these designs are yet to be officially confirmed, leaks of City Connect jerseys have been a common occurrence since their MLB debut in 2023. Often, these rumors prove accurate, as they typically originate from retailers who receive shipments ahead of public release.

As the Rangers move forward, the anticipation builds. Will the new design capture the hearts of fans, or will the shadow of the Peagle linger? Only time will tell.
