The latest minor league slate brought a little bit of everything for the Rangers’ affiliates: a doubleheader in Hickory, another pair of games for Hub City, and a sharp rehab outing from Cody Bradford for Frisco.
Bradford’s night stood out right away. In his latest rehab appearance, he worked three shutout innings and needed just 48 pitches to get through them, landing 39 strikes.
He also struck out four and didn’t issue a walk. Frisco got more scoreless work behind him, too, as Aidan Curry fired 5.2 shutout innings with six strikeouts and three walks.
Thomas Ireland then struck out the only batter he faced.
At the plate for Frisco, Sebastian Walcott kept raking, going 4 for 5 with a double and a stolen base. Dylan Dreiling finished 2 for 4 with a double and a stolen base, Arturo Disla went 2 for 4 with a double, and Yeison Morrobel added a double of his own.
Hickory had to grind through two games, and the pitching held up in both. In Game One, starter Mason McConnaughey tossed four shutout innings and struck out one.
Jay McQueen reached base with a hit and a walk, Pablo Guerrero chipped in a hit and a stolen base, and Paulino Santana collected a hit along with two walks. Curley Martha and Yolfran Castillo each added a hit.
Game Two brought another solid outing on the mound from Evan Siary, who allowed one run over 4.1 innings while striking out five and walking one. Louis Marinaro followed with one walk and three strikeouts. Offensively, Yolfran Castillo had a hit and a stolen base, Jay McQueen added a hit, Paulino Santana finished with a hit and a walk, and Daniel Flames and Pablo Guerrero each singled.
Hub City also split a pair. In Game One, Caden Scarborough struck out six and walked one while giving up one run in 4.1 innings.
Case Matter then struck out three and walked one in 1.1 innings, though he did allow a solo homer. The bats were lively enough to keep pace, with Gleider Figuereo going 2 for 4 with a homer and a stolen base.
Casey Cook doubled and walked, Eduardo Mejia went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, Marcos Torres had two hits and a stolen base, and Maxton Martin added a hit.
In Game Two, Kamdyn Perry started and allowed one run in four innings, striking out five and walking three. Chander Pollard doubled, and Maxton Martin added another hit.
