In Columbia, Missouri, the No. 16 Texas Women's Tennis team delivered a commanding performance, sweeping Missouri 7-0 at the Columbia Country Club on Friday. This victory marked the second match of their three-game road trip as they kicked off SEC play, bringing their conference record to 1-1.
The Longhorns were in top form, not dropping a single set throughout the match. They started strong in doubles, securing wins at the No. 3 and No. 2 positions, and carried that momentum into singles, where they claimed victories across all six spots.
The doubles action saw sophomore Salma Drugdova and freshman Mathilde Ngijol-Carré quickly dispatch Andrea Artimedia and Gian Octa with a 6-1 win at No. 3.
Following suit, the freshman pair of Elizabeth Ionescu and Christasha McNeil clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Zoe Lazar and Lara Quaglia at No. 2.
Meanwhile, the No. 1 match was left unfinished with sophomore Carmen Herea and freshman Anastasia Abbagnato tied at 5-5 against Alex Ackman and Korina Roso.
In singles, Ionescu was the first to finish, delivering a swift 6-2, 6-1 win over Artimedia at No. 4.
McNeil then extended the lead with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Octa at No. 3.
The clinching point came from Herea, who battled to a 6-4, 6-4 win over Roso at No. 1.
The remaining matches saw sophomore Eszter Meri defeat Ackman 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2, while Ngijol-Carré secured a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lazar at No. 5.
Drugdova wrapped up the sweep with a decisive 6-1, 6-2 victory over Quaglia at No. 6.
Next up, the Longhorns will conclude their road trip with a match against No. 39 Vanderbilt on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
