Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has set his sights on Miami commit Ah'Mari Stevens as a prime target for the Longhorns' receiving corps.
Standing at 5-11 and weighing 160 pounds, Stevens hails from Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, Florida. He's a consensus four-star recruit and ranks among the top 40 wide receivers in the class of 2027.
Despite being committed to the Hurricanes, Stevens is keeping his options open. He's lined up visits to three top Southeastern Conference schools later this year, indicating that Texas might still have a shot.
Currently, Stevens plans to visit LSU on April 18, the Hurricanes on May 29, the Bulldogs on June 5, and Texas on June 19.
While his stats this season-23 catches for 312 yards-might not jump off the page, Stevens' raw talent and potential are undeniable. His speed is particularly impressive, clocking in at a 10.8 in the 100-meter and a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash. Under Sarkisian's guidance, that speed could be a game-changer.
With several Texas receivers likely heading to the 2027 NFL Draft, nabbing Stevens would be a strategic move for the Longhorns, complementing standout players like sophomore Kaliq Lockett and freshman Jermaine Bishop.
Yet, it's not going to be easy. Stevens has deep-rooted ties to Miami, a connection he's cherished since childhood.
"I've loved Miami since I was a kid," Stevens shared in 2025. "Watching their games and wearing their gear was a big part of my life.
Being part of their growth felt right."
However, Texas has its own draw. Stevens shares a bond with Texas' five-star quarterback recruit, Dia Bell, from their time together at American Heritage High School. This connection could be pivotal in swaying Stevens towards Austin.
Sarkisian is no stranger to flipping Florida recruits. The Longhorns recently flipped safety Xavier Filsaime from Florida in 2023, showcasing Sarkisian's knack for landing top talent. Texas is hoping for a similar outcome with Stevens.
