Weather Shuffles Bevo Classic Schedule: Texas Softball Set for Saturday Showdown vs. Ohio State

AUSTIN, Texas - Mother Nature is making her presence felt in Austin this weekend, prompting a shift in the Bevo Classic schedule. With inclement weather in the forecast, No.

2 Texas Softball will now play a single game against Ohio State at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday at McCombs Field.

The matchup will be streamed live on SEC Network+, with Lincoln Rose handling play-by-play duties alongside former Longhorns legend Cat Osterman providing analysis.

Originally, Texas was slated for a Saturday doubleheader - first against Ohio State at 2:30 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. tilt with Syracuse. But with the weather calling the shots, the Longhorns will now focus solely on their matchup with the Buckeyes.

Revised Bevo Classic Saturday Lineup:

  • Abilene Christian vs.

Ohio State - 9:30 a.m. CT

  • Northern Illinois vs. Syracuse - Noon CT
  • Ohio State vs. Texas - 5 p.m.

CT

The Longhorns will wrap up their weekend action on Sunday at noon with a matchup against Northern Illinois. That game, too, will be streamed on SEC Network+, featuring David Saltzman on the call and Megan Willis offering color commentary.

While the schedule shift trims Texas’ Saturday workload, it also sharpens the spotlight on a single high-stakes clash with Ohio State - a team that’s no stranger to postseason aspirations. For the Longhorns, it’s another early-season test against a Power Five opponent, and a chance to keep building momentum in front of the home crowd.

With the Bevo Classic still offering a full slate of competitive action, fans can expect a weekend packed with quality softball - just with a bit of weather-driven improvisation.
