Texas’ offense is drawing plenty of attention this offseason, and most of it is landing on the obvious names. That makes sense. Steve Sarkisian has loaded up the roster, and the talk around the 2026 Longhorns has centered on the transfer additions on offense, including Cam Coleman, Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers.
Add Ryan Wingo back into the mix, and quarterback Arch Manning suddenly has a deep group of playmakers around him. But tucked into that conversation is a receiver who may not be getting nearly enough credit heading into 2026: Emmett Mosley V.
Coleman and Wingo are the kind of wideouts who can force defenses to tilt their coverage, and that should open things up for Mosley V in the slot. Texas had DeAndre Moore Jr. produce 38 catches for 532 yards and four touchdowns from that spot last season, and Mosley V has the kind of skill set to post similar numbers.
His 2025 season was interrupted by injuries, starting with a hamstring issue that kept him out until his debut against Florida in October. Once he got rolling, though, he flashed real juice. His breakout came against Mississippi State, when he caught two touchdown passes.
He also put together a stretch of four straight games with 50-plus yards, which showed the big-play ability Texas can use in a crowded receiver room. Then came the ankle injury in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan, an issue that required surgery. Now, he’s fully ready to go this season.
That’s what makes Mosley V such an interesting piece of this offense. He may not be the first or second target in the pecking order with Coleman and Wingo drawing so much attention, but he doesn’t need to be to matter.
If he takes advantage of the chances that come his way, he can become another problem for defenses to solve. He can help in the short passing game or stretch things vertically, and either way he gives Texas another reliable threat.
The slot role could be especially useful for him if he ends up functioning as a security blanket. Texas may not get much from the tight end position, which could create even more opportunities for Mosley V in short-yardage situations.
Of course, it all comes back to Manning. If he can build on his late-season success from 2025 and benefit from a better rushing attack, the ceiling for this offense is enormous. Sarkisian has surrounded him with the pieces to make it work, and Mosley V could end up being a bigger part of that picture than most people expect.
