Malik Muhammad, the Longhorns' standout cornerback, is starting to gain significant attention from NFL teams, and it's easy to see why. Standing at 6-0 and weighing 182 pounds, Muhammad's impressive 4.42-second 40-yard dash has scouts buzzing.
Coming off a stellar season with the Longhorns, Muhammad set career highs with 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and two interceptions. These stats have put him squarely on the radar as the NFL Draft approaches.
With the draft just over a month away, teams are busy organizing their top-30 visits to get a closer look at potential picks. Muhammad is already on the list for several teams.
In a conversation with NFL Draft on SI, Malik shared that he's had formal interviews with some teams and has more scheduled. "I had a formal interview at the NFL Combine with the Atlanta Falcons.
I have a two-day visit with the Dallas Cowboys coming up," he noted. "I’ve already met with the Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers virtually and am scheduled to meet with the Panthers again."
He also mentioned meetings with the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills, showcasing the wide interest in his talents.
The two-day meeting with the Cowboys is particularly intriguing. Dallas, having bolstered their cornerback lineup with Cobie Durant alongside DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel Jr., seems keen on Muhammad. His high football IQ, sharp instincts, and that blazing 4.42 speed make him a prime candidate.
Muhammad's sound tackling and playmaking abilities are exactly what teams like the Cowboys are looking for, and their interest in him is evident. Keep an eye on this rising star as the draft nears-he's poised to make a splash.
