Steve Sarkisian and the Texas staff just got a prime opening to lock down one of their biggest recruiting wins.
Five-star interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara, who committed to Texas in early July after backing off his planned official visits, has now booked an official visit to Austin anyway, according to Inside Texas’s Justin Wells. That’s a notable shift from Camara’s earlier decision to cancel his OVs with Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, and other programs while he focused on his body and his production.
Texas never really wavered during that stretch, and it paid off when Camara picked the Longhorns over a loaded list of contenders that included Oregon, SMU, LSU, and more. Now Sarkisian has a fresh chance to make that pledge stick for good.
Camara is expected in Austin over the weekend of Sept. 11-13, when Texas hosts Ohio State. That trip comes with a built-in spotlight, and it gives the Longhorns a big stage to keep their momentum rolling while spending more time with a prospect they’ve been chasing since March of 2025.
This won’t be Camara’s first look at the program, either. He has already taken four unofficial visits to Texas over the last year and a half, including one in June. A fifth trip gives the Longhorns another chance to reinforce what they’ve already sold him on and make it harder for anyone else to push back into the picture.
Camara comes in at 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds, a frame that already looks the part for a college lineman and maybe even an NFL interior blocker down the road. He’s ranked as the No. 3 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2027 and is currently the second-highest-rated player in Texas’s class, behind only five-star wide receiver Easton Royal.
The timing matters, too. Texas will have plenty of attention on it that weekend, and the Ohio State game should bring plenty of noise to the 40 Acres. Camara hasn’t shown any sign that a flip is in play, but another visit to campus - especially for a showcase game like that - gives Sarkisian and his staff every chance to keep the recruiting board leaning their way.
