Landen Williams-Callis didn’t wait long to put his name in the Houston high school record book all by himself.
The Texas commit, already one of the headliners in the Longhorns’ 2027 recruiting class, broke the Houston-area career touchdowns record on Thursday night during Randle High School’s blowout of Victoria East. It took him just one quarter to get there.
Williams-Callis came into the game with 134 touchdowns, just a few shy of the mark held by his cousin, Jacquizz Rodgers. By the end of the first 15 minutes, he had pushed the record to 137 after a ridiculous opening burst: 156 yards and three touchdowns on only three carries.
The milestone wasn’t the only line on the ledger. Williams-Callis also became the fifth player in Houston high school football history to top 8,000 rushing yards, and he now sits third on the all-time list with 8,158 career yards. Rodgers is second with 8,303, while Sugar Land’s Kenneth Hall still owns the Houston-area rushing record at 11,232 yards, a number that has stood since 1953.
What makes the night stand out is how quickly Williams-Callis has turned dominance into history. The scoring record was in sight before kickoff, and he erased it almost immediately.
That production is why plenty of eyes are already on what he could become in Austin. Texas has had some monster backs roll through the program - Ricky Williams, Earl Campbell and Bijan Robinson among them - and Williams-Callis looks built to enter that conversation before long.
For now, the Longhorns already have a loaded backfield with Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown, while Derrek Cooper is in the mix as a rookie talent. But when Williams-Callis arrives in 2027, the expectation is that he’ll force his way to the front of the room fast.
He’s part of a two-man blue-chip running back group in Texas’s 2027 class, alongside four-star back Noah Roberts. The class is ranked sixth nationally and second in the SEC, and it includes some of Steve Sarkisian’s biggest recruiting wins since he took over on the 40 Acres. Williams-Callis is the third-highest-rated player in the group, behind five-star wide receiver Easton Royal and five-star interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara.
