Texas Dominates SEC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship
In a thrilling display of aquatic prowess, the Texas Women's Swimming and Diving team clinched their second consecutive SEC Championship at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. With 1,413.5 points, the Longhorns outpaced No.
9 Tennessee and No. 10 Florida, showcasing their dominance by securing seven gold medals and a total of 21 podium finishes.
This victory marks Texas' 14th consecutive conference title across two conferences, a streak that began with the arrival of head coach Carol Capitani. The Longhorns have now amassed 38 conference titles since 1983, spanning the Southwest Conference, Big 12, and SEC.
Standout Performances
The evening kicked off with a nail-biter in the 200-yard IM, where Angie Coe clinched the title with a time of 1:53.90, just ahead of teammate Campbell Stoll. Campbell Chase also put in a strong performance, finishing fourth.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Eva Okaro captured silver with a swift 46.77, while Erin Gemmell and Nikolett Padar rounded out the top six. Sarah Rodrigues shone in the 200-yard backstroke, earning her first SEC medal with a second-place finish.
On the diving boards, Alejandra Estudillo impressed with a runner-up finish on the platform, highlighted by standout scores on her dives.
The meet concluded with a record-breaking performance in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Okaro, Nesty, Padar, and Gemmell set a new program record with a time of 3:08.14.
