No. 1 Men's Swimming Stuns with Five Medals at SEC Championships

Nate Germonprez and Hubert Kos headline a record-breaking performance as the No. 1 Mens Swimming and Diving team clinches multiple medals on day three of the 2026 SEC Championships.

In a thrilling display at the 2026 SEC Championships, the No. 1 Men's Swimming and Diving team continued to dominate, securing their eighth podium finish and third gold medal. The spotlight shone brightly on Nate Germonprez and Hubert Kos, who both delivered record-breaking performances at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

Hubert Kos stole the show in the 100-yard backstroke. During the prelims, he shattered a 13-year-old facility record with a time of 43.87, surpassing SwimMAC's Nick Thoman's previous mark.

Not content with just breaking records, Kos went on to outdo himself in the championship final, clocking in at 43.86 to clinch the gold. His teammate, Will Modglin, wasn't far behind, earning silver with an impressive 44.00, improving his prelim time by .16 seconds.

The success didn't stop there. Kyle Peck added to Texas' medal haul with a strong third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 1:40.42.

Nate Germonprez was another standout performer, making waves in the 100-yard breaststroke. He broke a four-year-old facility record during the prelims with a time of 50.05, previously held by Alabama's Derek Maas.

In the final, Germonprez surpassed his own record, capturing gold with a remarkable 49.92. Campbell McKean also made his mark, finishing third with a time of 50.42, further boosting Texas' standing.

As the competition heads into day four, Texas leads the pack with 470.5 points, closely followed by Florida's 462. The action continues with prelims in the 100-yard butterfly, 400 IM, and 200-yard freestyle starting at 8:30 a.m.
