In a groundbreaking move, Kevin Durant and The University of Texas have teamed up to launch a comprehensive NIL program, aimed at celebrating and supporting select Longhorn student-athletes on their basketball journeys. This initiative, in collaboration with Nike, kicks off with Texas Women's Basketball forward Madison Booker, who will be the first to receive exclusive access to KD PEs, apparel, and more.
Reflecting on his time at UT, Durant shared, "My experience at UT was pivotal in shaping my career and personal growth. Supporting college players has always been a dream, and I'm excited to expand our partnership with UT, integrating Boardroom, to create programs that benefit all UT student-athletes."
Madison Booker expressed her excitement, stating, "Being a Nike athlete is a huge honor. It's one of the reasons I chose UT - the opportunities here are incredible."
This partnership doesn't stop at gear and apparel. The University of Texas, Nike, and Durant's Boardroom are also launching an annual sports business summit.
This event, open to all UT student-athletes and sports business students, aims to provide impactful and interactive programming to enhance their education in the business realm. Set to debut later in 2026, the summit will feature top-tier speakers, content and storytelling strategy sessions, and financial literacy workshops.
Texas Women's Basketball Coach Vic Schaefer praised the partnership, saying, "Nike and KD couldn't have chosen a better representative than Madison Booker. Her dedication to her craft, modeled after KD, is evident in her performance."
Chris Del Conte, UT Vice President and Athletics Director, added, "We are immensely grateful to Kevin and appreciative of this collaboration with Nike. Kevin's unwavering support for The University of Texas, particularly through our Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation, is truly remarkable. This partnership marks the beginning of something significant, with Madison perfectly embodying the pride and winning tradition of Texas."
Karie Conner, VP/GM of Nike Global Basketball, emphasized, "At Nike, we're committed to listening to athletes and supporting their legacy. We're thrilled to embark on this unique partnership with KD, continuing to champion the next generation of athletes at The University of Texas, starting with Madison Booker."
Future signings across basketball and other sports are expected to follow.
