Jordan Shipley Shares Powerful Recovery Update After Ranch Accident

One month after a life-threatening ranch accident, former NFL player Jordan Shipley offers an inspiring glimpse into his remarkable path to recovery.

One month after a terrifying accident on his Texas ranch, former Texas Longhorns and NFL wide receiver Jordan Shipley is on the mend-and making strides that even he admits felt out of reach just a few weeks ago.

Shipley took to social media to share a positive update on his recovery from severe burns sustained in the incident, saying that his wounds are now “closed up and healing well.” He’s no longer making trips to the doctor and has started easing back into his usual routines-an encouraging sign for someone who was in critical condition not long ago.

“It’s an unbelievable answer to prayer to be at this point after the initial few days,” Shipley wrote, reflecting on the early stages of recovery that were anything but easy. While he acknowledged that full healing will take time-especially when it comes to his skin and exposure to the sun-he emphasized that he’s not in much pain and is sleeping well, a small but meaningful victory in the healing process.

The accident, which occurred while Shipley was working on his ranch in Burnet, Texas, happened when a piece of equipment caught fire. He was first taken to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, where he received treatment for his injuries. At the time, his condition was described as critical but stable.

In his update, Shipley didn’t hold back in his appreciation for the medical professionals who treated him, calling the team at Dell Seton “incredible.” He also gave a heartfelt shoutout to his wife, Sunny, who stood by his side through every difficult moment. “This has not been an easy month for her, but she has been a rock star,” he wrote.

And like many athletes who’ve battled through adversity, Shipley made it clear he hasn’t done it alone. He thanked friends, family, and supporters for their prayers and encouragement, saying the outpouring of love left him “totally blown away.”

Shipley’s road to recovery isn’t over, but the former wideout is clearly moving in the right direction. And if there’s one thing fans of Texas football remember about him, it’s that he’s never been one to shy away from a tough fight.
