In Knoxville, Tennessee, the No. 3 women's swimming and diving team made quite the splash on day two of the SEC Championships. They reached the podium in every event, with standout performances that left fans buzzing at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Jillian Cox stole the spotlight in the morning session, clinching her second straight SEC title in the 1650 freestyle with an impressive time of 15:32.75. Not far behind, Kate Hurst also made her mark, capturing third place with a time of 15:56.37.
As the evening events kicked off, the 200 medley relay team, featuring Emma Kern, Piper Enge, Campbell Stoll, and Eba Okaro, delivered a bronze-worthy performance, clocking in at 1:34.52.
On the diving boards, Bayleigh Cranford dazzled with a silver-medal finish in the 1-meter championship. Her impressive total of 319.50 points was highlighted by a meet-high score of 63.00 on her reverse 2 1/2 somersault tuck. She also impressed with a 55.20 on her back 1 1/2 somersault pike, securing her place among the event’s best.
The Texas team shone brightly in the 800 freestyle relay, with Erin Gemmell, Lillie Nesty, Campbell Chase, and Nikolett Padar touching the wall first in 6:50.59. Padar set a new school record in the 200 freestyle with a blazing 1:41.36 on the lead leg, surpassing her previous best by nearly a second.
As the day wrapped up, the Longhorns topped the standings with a team score of 232, followed by Florida at 190 and South Carolina at 175.
Looking ahead, the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships continue with a packed schedule on Wednesday. Preliminaries for the 100 back, 200 fly, and 100 breaststroke kick off at 8:30 a.m.
CT, while the men's 3-meter diving prelims are slated for 11 a.m. CT.
