Chendall Weaver, a senior guard known for his relentless hustle on the basketball court, is making waves off the court as well, earning accolades across the Southeastern Conference. Recognized for his dedication to community service, Weaver was named to the 2025-26 SEC Men’s Basketball Community Service Team on March 5.
This honor isn't just about his impressive stats; it's about Weaver's commitment to making a difference in the Austin community during his time at Texas. Leading the Longhorns in community service hours this season, Weaver has been deeply involved in initiatives focused on civic engagement and youth development.
One standout effort was his role in organizing voter outreach through the University’s Rise to Vote program. Weaver was instrumental in a voter registration drive and delivered a civic engagement presentation, showcasing his dedication to empowering others.
Weaver's community involvement also includes marching in Austin’s Juneteenth Parade in both 2023 and 2024, celebrating the emancipation of enslaved people, and volunteering as a coach at a Special Olympics basketball camp in the Austin area.
The SEC Community Service Team, which began with football in 1994 and now spans all sports, honors athletes who make significant contributions beyond their athletic achievements. This recognition highlights players like Weaver, who invest time and effort into volunteering in schools, nonprofits, and local communities.
Weaver's philosophy of giving back has been a guiding force during his time at Texas. Reflecting on his transfer from UT-Arlington before the 2023-24 season, Weaver shared, “When I entered the transfer portal, I had a lot of schools hit me up. I just felt like Texas was home when I took my visit.”
On the court, Weaver has established himself as a versatile guard, renowned for his defensive intensity and rebounding prowess. Over his college career, he’s played in 86 games, starting 40, and has accumulated over 600 points and 300 rebounds. Texas head coach Sean Miller has often highlighted Weaver’s impact, emphasizing that his contributions go beyond the stat sheet.
“Chendall Weaver is one of our best players,” Miller said earlier this season. “I don’t know if the outside world really understands the talented basketball player he is.”
For Coach Miller, Weaver embodies the qualities that define successful teams: energy, leadership, and selflessness. “It’s not points per game with him,” Miller noted. “It’s everything else he does.”
Off the court, these same qualities are helping to shape Weaver’s enduring legacy in the Austin community, proving that his impact extends far beyond the game.
