Arch Manning is building a home-field résumé at Texas that none of the program’s legendary quarterbacks can match.
The latest proof came in the win over then-No. 1 Ohio State, a result that made Manning the first Texas quarterback ever to beat three top-10 opponents at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Even for a program that has seen Colt McCoy, Vince Young and Bobby Layne under center, that’s a new standard.
Manning has done it quickly, too. Since taking over as QB1, he has knocked off No.
1 Ohio State in 2026, No. 3 Texas A&M in 2025 and No.
9 Vanderbilt in 2025, with some of the strongest outings of his career coming in those games. At home, he has yet to lose as Texas’ starting quarterback, going 10-0 in Austin.
That kind of start puts him in rare company, but the names at the very top of Texas quarterback history still set a high bar. James Street went undefeated as the Longhorns’ starter and delivered the 1969 National Championship.
Vince Young finished 24-1 and powered Texas to the 2005 title with his memorable performance against USC. McCoy went 45-8 as the starter and reached the 2009 National Championship game before losing to Alabama.
Manning’s own numbers are strong, even if the championship hardware is still ahead of him. He is 14-3 overall as Texas’ QB1, including 2-0 while filling in for an injured Quinn Ewers in 2024 and 2-0 to open the 2026 season. In 2025, he went 10-3 and finished with a win over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl.
With Texas carrying momentum and Manning driving a lot of it through his play, the possibility of a return to the top of the sport is right there in front of him. If he can get the Longhorns back to the National Championship for the first time in 17 years, his place among the program’s all-time greats will be hard to argue. The unbeaten run at DKR would become just one part of the story.
There are 10 regular-season games left this year, and if Texas runs the table in conference play, an SEC Championship game would follow. After that, the College Football Playoff would be waiting if Manning is going to take the next step.

Texas had a real chance to turn Saturday into something bigger than a point. In an SEC home match at Mike A. Myers Stadium, the Longhorns played Tennessee to a 2-2 draw, and for long stretches they looked capable of handing the Volunteers their toughest night of the season. Florida State transfers Mya Brandon and Ashlyn Anderson provided the offense, and Texas became the first team to lead Tennessee this year.
The game changed late when Texas was shown a red card, leaving it to defend short-handed for the final 20 minutes. Even so, the Longhorns did enough to keep Tennessee from breaking away and walk off with a result that felt both encouraging and frustrating. For a Texas team trying to establish itself in conference play, this was the kind of match that showed it can hang with one of the leagues best, while still leaving room to wonder what might have been with a full lineup. Texas Just Added Another Loaded Hall Of Honor Class
Texas added another decorated Hall of Honor class this week, welcoming 12 former student-athletes and one former coach in a ceremony at the LBJ Auditorium and Conference Center. The group spans a wide swath of Longhorns history and success, with honorees coming from football, track and field, swimming, volleyball, softball, basketball and tennis, a reminder of how broad the schools athletic footprint has been over the years.
The latest class gives Texas another chance to celebrate the people who helped build that tradition across multiple eras and sports. The honorees will also get a public nod at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium when the Longhorns face UTSA, adding a football-stage moment to a ceremony that already tied together plenty of different corners of the programs past. Landen Williams-Callis keeps giving Texas fans more to like about the Longhorns 2027 recruiting class. The Houston-area running back delivered another big night in high school football, piling up three touchdowns in the first quarter while adding to a rsum that already stands out in local record books.
He has now become the fifth player in Houston high school history to top 8,000 career rushing yards, and his 8,158 yards put him third all-time in the area.
