Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is already loaded, and five-star Edge Zyron Forstall looks like the kind of addition that can tilt the whole thing. With 26 commitments in the Aggies’ No. 1-ranked class, Forstall’s name keeps rising near the top of the conversation as evaluators look for future signees who can step in and make an immediate impact in 2027.
That kind of projection fits the way Texas A&M has been building under third-year coach Mike Elko. After former Bowling Green Edge Cashius Howell finished last season leading the SEC with 11.5 sacks, the Aggies have reason to feel good about how their defensive front is being developed. Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie have helped drive that momentum, and both are regarded nationally as top recruiters and developers.
Forstall’s fit is easy to see. He brings the kind of versatility that gives a staff options, whether he’s lined up as a defensive end or an outside linebacker.
His speed, size and first-step burst give him the tools to stress a quarterback quickly and force problems in the pocket. That kind of profile also points to a path toward rotational snaps early on.
Reel Analytics added another layer to the hype this week by releasing its “In-Game Athleticism™” tape from Forstall’s junior season at IMG Academy. The film highlighted his elite closing speed, showing 8.5 yards of separation before the snap and a sequence in which he reached the backfield in just two seconds, forced the quarterback to drift right and finished with the sack.
If Texas A&M starts mapping out where Forstall could line up, the Jack spot is one obvious possibility. That role is currently held by rising sophomore Marco Jones, who is similarly sized.
Another realistic route to more playing time would be a role like the one senior linebacker Daymion Sanford handles in third-down packages. Either way, Forstall has the kind of skill set that gives the Aggies plenty to work with once he arrives.
