Texas A&M Stuns Rivals with Potential 2027 Linebacker Commitment

Texas A&M's strategic recruiting efforts during the dead period might secure pivotal talent, setting the stage for a top-ranked 2027 class.

Texas A&M's head coach, Mike Elko, and his refreshed coaching crew have been making waves during the recruiting dead period. They've made impressive strides with key prospects for the 2027 cycle, including a top-tier linebacker who plans to visit College Station this spring. Rivals' recruiting expert, Steve Wiltfong, recently shared a promising prediction about their progress.

The Aggies are setting their sights on landing four-star linebacker Kaden Henderson from Florida. Wiltfong has confidently predicted that Texas A&M is in a strong position to secure Henderson's commitment in the coming months.

Fellow insider Chad Simmons has pointed out that Ohio State and Texas A&M are the two frontrunners in Henderson's decision-making process. Meanwhile, Florida State, Florida, Alabama, and Miami are still in the mix, though to a lesser extent.

With the expected departure of starting linebackers Daymion Sanford and transfer Ray Coney after the 2026 season, sophomore Noah Mikhail will be one of the few returning players. While Elko is likely to tap into the transfer portal for additional linebackers, Henderson's addition would provide immediate depth for 2027.

Currently, the Aggies have the upper hand in the recruiting cycle. Chad Simmons has reported that Ohio State remains a strong contender, but Henderson has already scheduled his official visit to Texas A&M for the summer and will also be visiting in the spring. Wiltfong's RPM pick reflects the current momentum favoring the Aggies.

Miami, fresh off a national title game appearance, is making its presence felt. Florida State, once Henderson's dream school, along with Alabama and Florida, are working hard to stay relevant in his recruitment.

The Aggies are also leading the charge for five-star interior offensive lineman Albert Simien and four-star offensive tackle Kennedy Brown, both set to visit College Station in late May and early June. Texas A&M is well-positioned to finish with a top ranking when everything is finalized.
