In a thrilling comeback, Texas A&M snapped their four-game losing streak with a nail-biting 80-77 victory over Ole Miss at Reed Arena. The Aggies, who were on the brink of slipping into NCAA Tournament bubble territory, showed resilience that could define their season.
For much of the game, it seemed like the Aggies might extend their losing streak. They fell behind by double digits early in the second half, appearing fatigued and out of sync. Yet, with less than seven minutes left, they flipped the script with a stunning 19-6 run to seal the win.
What makes this victory even more impressive is that Texas A&M managed to pull it off despite being outshot from the field, from beyond the arc, and at the free-throw line. They also lost the turnover battle. However, Rashaun Agee was a standout performer, leading the team with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, providing the spark the Aggies desperately needed.
The late-game heroics came from Zach Clemence and Reuben Dominguez, who combined to score 15 of the team’s final 19 points. Dominguez, in particular, might have found his rhythm again, breaking free from a prolonged shooting slump.
He nailed his last two three-point attempts and was clutch from the line, sinking all three free throws after being fouled on a third attempt. If Dominguez can maintain this shooting form, the Aggies’ offense could become significantly more potent.
With this win, Texas A&M improves to 8-5 in SEC play. Up next, they head to Norman for a showdown against Oklahoma, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, airing on SEC Network. This game could be another crucial step as they aim to solidify their tournament credentials.
