Texas A&M Star Forward Plans Return Amid Four-Game Losing Streak

Texas A&M eyes a rebound season with the anticipated return of standout forward Mackenzie Mgbako, as Coach McMillan gears up to revitalize the team.

Texas A&M is gearing up to host Ole Miss on Wednesday, and they're eager to snap a tough four-game losing streak. First-year head coach Bucky McMillan is looking for more from his starters, particularly senior guard Jacari Lane and Rubén Dominguez, who have been struggling during this rough patch.

One of the key challenges for the Aggies has been dealing with size mismatches against nearly every SEC opponent. This issue was compounded when Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako was sidelined for the season due to an injury early in non-conference play.

Mgbako's absence has been a significant talking point, especially with just seven regular-season games remaining before the SEC Tournament and March Madness. During the recent Aggie Basketball Hour, McMillan shed some light on Mgbako's recovery, sharing that he is on track to return this summer. McMillan emphasized that Mgbako, a former McDonald's All-American, is expected to make a strong comeback and is one of several players slated to return for another season.

"He's doing well," McMillan said. "He's doing everything he's supposed to do and should be back this summer.

I hate that fans didn't get to see how he was playing this summer. He looked like a first rounder."

Looking ahead, McMillan plans to be active in the transfer portal, aiming to build a team with the right mix of speed, shooting efficiency, and size to compete at the highest level. With junior guard Pop Isaacs and potentially senior guard Zach Clemence returning, the Aggies could be one of the most formidable teams in the SEC.

"We've got the opportunity to bring back guys who played key minutes for us. Next year, we want to build around players who have been in it before," McMillan added.
