Texas A&M Signees Chase State Titles With Only Four Still Competing

Two of Texas A&Ms top incoming recruits look to cap off dominant seasons by chasing Georgia state titles in tonights championship showdowns.

As the high school football postseason winds down, a handful of Texas A&M commits are still chasing championship glory - and a couple have already reached the mountaintop. With only four future Aggies left in the playoff hunt, the spotlight now turns to a pair of marquee matchups in Georgia, where two elite defensive prospects are gearing up for the biggest games of their high school careers.

Let’s start with edge rusher Tristian Givens, a five-star force out of Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia. Givens and his squad are one win away from perfection, entering Tuesday night’s GHSA Class 2A State Championship at 14-0. They’ll take on Hapeville Charter (10-4) with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m. local time.

Givens has been nothing short of dominant this season. His stat line reads like a checklist for defensive disruption: 91 total tackles (34 solo), 28 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, 16 quarterback hurries, four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions. He’s been a nightmare for opposing offenses, consistently setting the edge, collapsing pockets, and making plays all over the field.

If Carver pulls off the win, it would be their second straight state title, and they’d finish the season on a 28-game winning streak, boasting a 30-1 record over the past two years. That’s a legacy-defining run for Givens and his teammates - and a big reason why Texas A&M fans are so excited about his future in College Station.

Just a few hours later and not too far away, Bryce Perry-Wright will take the field for Buford High School in the GHSA Class 6A State Championship. Buford faces Carrollton in a battle of unbeatens - both teams enter at 14-0, and this one has all the makings of a classic. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. local time.

This is a rematch of last year’s semifinal, a game Carrollton won 30-17 before falling short in the final. But this time around, Perry-Wright and the Wolves have a shot at redemption - and a shot at perfection.

Perry-Wright has been the anchor of Buford’s defensive front all season long. Despite being a marked man on every snap, he’s turned in a career-best campaign: 100 total tackles (50 solo), 17 tackles for loss, 26 quarterback hits, seven sacks, three forced fumbles, and a blocked field goal.

For context, he totaled 108 tackles and 22 TFLs combined over the previous two years. That’s the kind of leap that signals a player not just peaking, but evolving.

And while Perry-Wright has racked up wins - 48 and counting - he’s still chasing that elusive state title. A win tonight would be the perfect capstone to a high school career filled with production, leadership, and national recognition.

Both Givens and Perry-Wright will get one more high-profile stage after their championship games, with appearances lined up in the Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio on January 10. But before they suit up for that national showcase, there’s unfinished business under the lights in Georgia.

Two games. Two future Aggies.

Two chances to bring home hardware before heading to the SEC stage. For Texas A&M fans, tonight’s action offers a glimpse of what’s coming - and it looks awfully promising.
