After more than two months on the sidelines, Texas A&M is getting a major boost in the backfield. Running back Le’Veon Moss, who hasn’t played since October 11 against Florida, is officially back in the starting lineup. Head coach Mike Elko confirmed Saturday morning on SEC Nation that Moss will get the start and is expected to “go full tilt.”
That’s not just a return-it’s a statement. Moss was listed as a game-time decision earlier in the week, but now he’s locked in and ready to roll.
Before the injury, Moss was a force. He was averaging 5.6 yards per carry and had already racked up six touchdowns and nearly 400 rushing yards.
That came on the heels of a breakout 2024 campaign where he posted 765 yards and 10 touchdowns. Simply put, when Moss is healthy, he’s one of the most dynamic weapons in the SEC.
His return couldn’t come at a better time for the Aggies. Pairing Moss with Reuben Owens and Marcel Reed gives Texas A&M a three-headed monster in the run game.
Owens has proven himself as a capable playmaker, and Reed brings a dual-threat element that keeps defenses honest. Now, with Moss back in the mix, this offense becomes a whole lot harder to defend.
But they’re not walking into a cakewalk. On the other side is a Miami defense that’s been downright stingy against the run all season.
The Hurricanes’ front seven ranks seventh nationally in opponent rushing yards per game, and they’ve made a habit of shutting down even the most physical ground games. Statistically, this is the toughest rushing defense Texas A&M has faced all year.
So now the stage is set: a revitalized Aggies offense with its top back returning, squaring off against one of the best run defenses in the country. It’s strength vs. strength, and we’re about to find out which side bends first.
Kickoff between Texas A&M and Miami is just around the corner, set for Noon on ESPN. With Moss back in the fold, buckle up-this one could get interesting in a hurry.
