Texas A&M Gains Ground as Ahmad Hudson Reveals His Top Choices

Five-star recruit Ahmad Hudson narrows his college choices, with Texas A&M staying firmly in the mix as he eyes dual-sport success.

Ahmad Hudson, one of the standout prospects in the Class of 2027, is making waves as he narrows down his college choices, and Texas A&M is right in the mix. This five-star tight end from Ruston High School in Louisiana has whittled his options down from a staggering three dozen offers to just six: Texas A&M, LSU, Miami, Missouri, Nebraska, and USC.

Hudson isn't just a football phenom; he's also a top-tier basketball recruit. Standing at 6-foot-6.5 and weighing 239 pounds, his dual-sport talent is a major factor in his recruitment.

He ranks as the No. 11 overall football player in the 2027 class, the top tight end, and the second-best junior in Louisiana, trailing only quarterback Elijah Haven. On the basketball court, he's the No. 24 player nationally and the top-ranked power forward in Louisiana.

Texas A&M is open to Hudson playing both sports, a flexibility they've shown before. During his visits, Hudson has engaged with both the football and basketball coaching staffs, mirroring the path of 2026 signee Evan Jacobson, who will also play both sports at A&M.

The Aggies have been relentless in their pursuit, offering Hudson a spot as early as his freshman year. He visited for the Auburn game last season and, despite a weather-related cancellation in January, plans to return this spring.

LSU and Nebraska are also strong contenders. LSU benefits from being in-state and the addition of head coach Lane Kiffin, who aims to bring an explosive offense to Baton Rouge. Nebraska has impressed with consistent communication, and Hudson has shown his affection for the program on social media.

Hudson is set to visit LSU this weekend, with a potential commitment date of July 4. However, as with all recruiting, plans can shift.

According to 247Sports' Gabe Brooks, Hudson is a "super-sized tight end with a rare blend of frame and athleticism." He's a nightmare matchup in the passing game, capable of stretching the field and excelling at various levels.

His basketball skills translate well to football, making him a formidable pass-catching threat with significant long-term potential. Hudson is poised to make a significant impact at the collegiate level and beyond.
