Week 2 reshuffled the picture a bit for Texas A&M, even if the Aggies themselves are still sorting out their own offense. The 48-20 win over Arizona State gave A&M a couple of things to feel better about: Terry Bussey looks like he’s settling into a bigger role as the replacement for first-round NFL draft pick KC Concepcion, and Isaiah Horton has emerged as a real weapon near the goal line after the Aggies had trouble finishing drives last season.
Around the league, the weekend gave a better read on several of A&M’s future opponents. LSU and Alabama both had slow starts before pulling away comfortably, while Texas delivered the loudest result of the week. The Longhorns erased a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit against Ohio State, scored 21 straight points, and finished off a 24-23 comeback that pushed them to No. 1 in several major polls.
That left enough movement to update the pecking order for Texas A&M’s remaining schedule. Here’s how the Aggies’ opponents stack up from easiest to toughest heading into Week 3.

2026 record: 1-2
Citadel is still the clear bottom rung on the list. The Bulldogs bounced back from upsetting Charlotte by dropping a 26-20 double-overtime game to Charleston Southern.
They actually outgained Charleston Southern 308-188, but couldn’t finish the job. Even with that result, the FCS-versus-SEC gap keeps this as the softest matchup left, especially with the game at Kyle Field.

Arkansas took a hard step backward in a 43-10 loss at No. 20 Utah.
First-year coach Ryan Silverfield entered the season with plenty to prove, and the Razorbacks’ first Power Four test didn’t help their case. Among A&M’s SEC opponents, this still looks like the most manageable one.

2026 record: 1-1
Kentucky showed some life early against Alabama, building a 17-13 halftime lead. Then the game flipped fast.
Alabama scored 32 unanswered points and rolled to a 45-17 win. The Wildcats have enough talent to make things interesting early, but Kyle Field makes the assignment tougher.

2026 record: 2-0
South Carolina is 2-0 after a 45-9 win over Towson, but the offense still has some rough edges. LaNorris Sellers completed 10 of 23 passes for 96 yards and an interception, though he also ran for 119 yards and a touchdown. Williams-Brice Stadium is still a tough place to play, but the Gamecocks have some passing issues to clean up.

2025 final record: 1-1
Oklahoma slid down this list after a 17-10 loss at Michigan, a game in which the Sooners managed just 10 points. They still have talent and won’t be easy to handle in Norman in late November, but their offense looked far less dangerous against Power Four competition than it did in the opener against UTEP.

Missouri moved up after a 38-21 road win over Kansas in the Border War. The Tigers have scored at least 38 points in both games and continue to look like one of the SEC’s steadier teams. Playing them on the road makes this one tougher than Oklahoma or South Carolina.

Tennessee backed up its opening-week blowout with a 45-24 road win over Georgia Tech. Freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon has opened his career with two strong outings, and Josh Heupel’s offense is already looking dangerous. Having this one at Kyle Field keeps it from climbing any higher.

2026 record: 2-0
Alabama answered a 17-13 halftime deficit at Kentucky by scoring 32 straight points in a 45-17 win. The Crimson Tide have won their first two games by a combined 66 points, and the trip to Tuscaloosa still stands as one of the toughest on A&M’s schedule.

LSU followed its statement win over Clemson with a 45-14 victory over Louisiana Tech. The Tigers weren’t facing the same level of opposition, but they kept rolling on offense. With A&M making its first road trip at night in Death Valley, this is a brutal early-season test.

Texas stays at the top after rallying past top-ranked Ohio State, 24-23. The Longhorns had to work harder than they did in Week 1, but beating the nation’s No. 1 team only strengthened their standing. Rece Davis is not ready to follow the polls when it comes to Texas, even after the Longhorns walked out of Columbus with one of the seasons most eye-catching wins. On The Pat McAfee Show, the ESPN College GameDay host said he currently has Notre Dame at No. 1 and Texas at No. 2, a stance that runs against the AP and Coaches polls, which both have Texas on top.
Davis did give Texas credit for the comeback against Ohio State, but he said he is still not convinced the Longhorns have played like the nations best team across the full game. Texas A&M Still Has One Offensive Problem Before SEC Play
Two weeks into the 2026 season, Texas A&M is still unbeaten, but the offense has not looked fully settled heading into SEC play. Marcel Reeds passing production has been the biggest talking point, and the Aggies have not gotten enough consistent help through the air to make the unit feel as dangerous as it needs to be. Injuries have played a part, and the tight end group has not provided much lift either, leaving the passing game with more questions than answers.
That puts extra focus on offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins as the league schedule arrives.
