Texas A&Ms 2027 Class Just Got More National Validation

The Texas A&M 2027 recruiting class continues to dominate the rankings, boasting two elite wide receiver commits within the Top 10 of Rivals300, reinforcing Coach Mike Elko's focused strategy.

Texas A&M’s 2027 class keeps stacking up in the latest Rivals300 update, and the Aggies now have two wide receiver commits sitting inside the top 10 at the position.

Five-star receiver Eric McFarland checked in at No. 58 overall, while four-star Jayden Upshaw landed right behind him at No. 62. That puts the pair ninth and 10th among the top wideouts in the rankings.

The rest of the Aggies’ class also made noise this week. Five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews is now the No. 2 prospect in the class, and five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey climbed to No. 19 overall. Four-star linebacker Aston Whiteside entered the top 300 at No. 253, and four-star athlete Errol Kerns also came in at No. 253 after flipping from Miami (OH) to Texas A&M following his official visit this summer.

The rankings movement only adds to the sense that Mike Elko is building with more than star power alone. Texas A&M’s approach has been about finding players who fit the system, the culture and the NFL ceiling that comes with both.

At quarterback, four-star Jayce Johnson is positioned as the next man up if his development keeps trending the right way as a pocket passer.

And on the perimeter, the Aggies are loading up. McFarland and Upshaw join three-star receivers Damani Warren and Trey Haddad in what looks like a future rotation built on speed, size and physicality. That’s exactly the kind of profile Holmon Wiggins knows well, especially for a coach who moved from wide receivers coach to offensive coordinator.

Texas A&M is the only program with two receiver commits in the latest update other than Oregon, which has pledges from five-star Dakota Guerrant and four-star Xavier Sabb.

This Texas A&M Commit Could Spark Something Much Bigger

Zyron Forstalls commitment to Texas A&M in the 2027 class already looks bigger than one highly rated edge rusher choosing a school. The five-star prospect brings the kind of profile Aggies fans notice immediately, but it is the way he carries himself that makes this one stand out, with his leadership and his background giving A&M a foothold in more than one recruiting lane.

Forstall has ties that stretch from Louisiana to IMG Academy, and that combination gives Texas A&M a chance to stay in the conversation for elite talent well beyond his own pledge. He is also the type of recruit who can help create momentum on the trail, and the Aggies will be watching closely to see whether his decision starts pulling more top-end names toward College Station. Texas A&M May Be Losing Grip On A Massive In-State Recruit

Texas A&Ms push to keep one of the states top running backs in the fold is suddenly looking a lot less secure. Landen Williams-Callis, a highly ranked in-state target and one of the most productive backs in the country, is set to make his college decision on Aug. 1, and he has long been a player the Aggies had circled as a potential anchor for their No. 1 recruiting class.

Williams-Callis had been viewed as an early favorite for Texas A&M, which only adds to the intrigue around where this one is headed. Ranked among the best at his position, he brings the kind of production and profile that can swing a class, and the late momentum around his recruitment has turned a once-comfortable race into one the Aggies are suddenly watching closely.
