McCarty said he remains "locked in " with Texas A&M, and the response was aimed at calming fears that the loss to LSU might trigger movement in the class. He also backed Elko to steady things with eight regular-season games still left.
That message matters because McCarty is viewed as the heart and soul of the class, and he’s likely been in touch with nearly every committed player since Saturday’s game. For now, the expectation is that the 2027 group stays mostly intact, with one source saying little movement, if any, is expected before Early Signing Day in two months.
There was at least one recruiting wrinkle elsewhere in the class, as four-star Edge Frederick Ards reportedly took an unofficial visit with the Florida Gators on Sunday. But as it stands, McCarty’s public message was the loudest one: he’s staying with Texas A&M.
The Aggies are back on the field Saturday night against Arkansas. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m., and the game will air on ESPN2.
