Texas A&M Just Took Another Roster Hit Before The Season

Former Texas A&M linebacker Kelvion Riggins joins a growing list of players entering the transfer portal amid a turbulent offseason for the Aggies.

Texas A&M’s offseason turnover is already taking shape, and one of the names now heading for the transfer portal is a familiar one from the 2025 recruiting class.

Former Aggies linebacker Kelvion Riggins officially plans to enter the portal, according to On3. He never played in a game for Texas A&M, per the program’s official stats, and his move comes after he left the team during fall camp.

That departure had been expected, but the next step is now clear. Riggins can start looking for his next home with the 2027 season in mind, and he has more time than most to sort through options before the usual December and January portal rush. That head start could give him a chance to build relationships with coaching staffs well before the regular season ends.

Riggins was not on the Texas A&M fall camp roster distributed to media at the start of August. His name still appears on the school’s official website, though he is no longer listed on the updated roster as of Nov. 4.

A four-star recruit from Forney, TX, Riggins drew offers from a long list of major programs, including Georgia, Miami, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Tennessee and others. That kind of recruiting profile could make him an appealing portal target once teams begin shaping their rosters for next season.

He wasn’t the only Aggie to move on before the season even got going. Texas A&M also lost wide receivers Jerome Myles and Jonah Wilson, both gone from the roster once fall camp opened. Texas offensive lineman Nelson McGuire also left the program.

And while it’s a separate situation, wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman has also been away from the team for personal reasons. That doesn’t mean he’s headed to the portal, but his extended absence makes him a name to keep an eye on once the offseason arrives in College Station.

Texas A&M Faces A Brutal Road Test With One Clear Weakness

Texas A&M heads into an upcoming road game at South Carolina with plenty to sort through, and the matchup does not look forgiving. The Gamecocks are riding a winning streak and have leaned on a rushing attack led by LaNorris Sellers, while the Aggies arrive with recent road struggles hanging over them and little margin for error away from home.

For Texas A&M, the path is fairly clear even if the execution is not. The Aggies need to run the ball effectively and keep South Carolina from dictating the pace, because controlling time of possession may be their best way to stay in the game and create a chance to steal one on the road. Texas A&M Suddenly Has A Real Shot To Flip This Road Test

Texas A&Ms Week 10 outlook has taken on a different feel after the latest round of upset chatter around the college football slate. The Aggies are part of a broader conversation about teams that may be better positioned than the market gives them credit for, with the matchup drawing attention from bettors looking for value in road games and from fans watching how the numbers stack up across key performance metrics.

For A&M, the appeal is less about hype than about the way this game fits into the larger betting picture. The analysis around the weekend points to underdog angles and a few spots where rankings and recent form suggest the gap may not be as wide as it looks, which is exactly the kind of setup that can make a road test feel more winnable than expected. Texas A&M Suddenly Has Another 2027 Flip Fight On Its Hands

Texas A&Ms 2027 class already has the feel of a recruiting battleground, and the latest twist has only added to the pressure. Linebacker Aston Whiteside has flipped his commitment to Miami, while fellow linebacker Kaden Henderson is drawing attention of his own with a reported visit to Notre Dame, even as he is still expected to sign with the Aggies.

The bigger concern may be four-star edge Frederick Ards III, who has already committed to Texas A&M but has also made a trip to South Carolina. The Gamecocks are actively pushing for him after their recent winning streak, and another visit could be on the table, giving the Aggies another prospect to keep close tabs on as this class continues to take shape.
