The Texas A&M Aggies are making waves with what might just be the top recruiting class in the nation. However, even the best sometimes miss a beat.
Case in point: the Aggies recently lost out on five-star interior offensive lineman Albert Simien, who opted to join the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This decision was confirmed by On3's Hayes Fawcett, marking a significant win for Notre Dame in the recruiting arena.
Simien, hailing from Lake Charles, Louisiana, had a few suitors vying for his talents. Besides Notre Dame, Nebraska and LSU were in the mix.
The Aggies had been courting Simien since October 2024, when they extended a scholarship offer. He made several trips to College Station, including an official visit on June 12.
Yet, it was Notre Dame's visit a week later that turned the tide in their favor.
Ranked as the No. 20 overall player and the No. 2 interior offensive lineman by Rivals, Simien stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 295 pounds. He's also the No. 3 player from Louisiana, making him a highly coveted recruit.
Despite the setback with Simien, Texas A&M still boasts the best recruiting class in the country. Notre Dame trails in second place, but the Aggies have secured commitments from six five-star prospects, including standout offensive tackle Mark Matthews and interior offensive lineman Kennedy Brown, ranked No. 5 and No. 25 nationally, respectively.
The Aggies' offensive line depth is impressive, with four-star offensive tackles Kaeden Scott and DeMarrion Johnson adding to their formidable lineup. Their 23 commits have an average rating of 91.27, the fifth-best in the country and the highest among schools with 22 or more commitments. Texas A&M is clearly building a powerhouse, even if they had to let one big fish get away.

Newest Aggie Commit Just Raised The Stakes For Elkos 2027 Class
Texas A&Ms 2027 recruiting momentum picked up again with the addition of wide receiver Damani Warren, another sign that Mike Elkos push on the trail is landing in a way Aggie fans have been waiting to see. The class is already sitting at No. 1 nationally, and Rivals has it stocked with six five-star recruits, a haul that reflects just how differently the program is being viewed as Elko continues to reshape both the roster outlook and the defensive identity around it.
For a fan base that has seen plenty of recruiting buzz in the past without the on-field follow-through, the broader significance is hard to miss. The conversation around this class is starting to sound less like a promise and more like a foundation, with the newest commitment adding another layer of urgency and expectation to a group that is being watched closely for what it might mean when those players finally arrive in College Station. Texas A&M Just Got A Massive Boost In The 2027 Secondary
Texas A&Ms 2027 class already sits at 24 commitments and has kept the Aggies atop the recruiting board, even after a hit to the secondary when five-star cornerback John Meredith flipped to Texas. Even so, the defensive back haul remains one of the most impressive parts of the class, with blue-chip safeties Kamarui Dorsey and JayQuan Snell already in the fold and five-star cornerback Raylaun Henry giving the group even more high-end talent.
Henrys stock only climbed again when ESPN upgraded him to a five-star in its latest 2027 rankings update, a notable boost for a class that is still taking shape. The bigger question now is whether Texas A&M can keep stacking elite corners around him, especially with another major decision looming that could further strengthen what is already becoming a loaded future secondary. Mike Elko Just Landed A Recruit Who Changes The Feeling Around A&M
Texas A&M added another major piece to its 2026 recruiting push with the commitment of Kaden Henderson, a four-star linebacker from Tampa who gives Mike Elkos class a little more punch and a little more credibility outside College Station. Hendersons decision matters not just because of his talent, but because it fits the larger pitch Elko has been making since arriving: a program with a clearer direction, a stronger structure, and enough momentum to keep top-end defenders paying attention.
Henderson pointed to Elkos vision and the way the staff connected with him as key parts of the process, and he also bought into the strength of A&Ms recruiting class. For the Aggies, that combination is the point. Landing a player like Henderson suggests the message is landing with elite prospects, and it keeps the buzz around this class from feeling like offseason noise. [Read more 🡒]
