Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is still sitting on top of Rivals’ latest Top 25 rankings, and Mike Elko has the Aggies in position to keep it there.
Elko, now heading into his third season, is closing in on the No. 1 class after adding four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen earlier this month. The one major piece still hanging out there is five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis, the lone uncommitted priority target in the class, and he is reportedly set to announce his decision on Saturday, August 1.
The Aggies’ class has been built with size, star power and balance. Texas A&M now owns a nation-high six five-star commitments in the cycle, and the staff has hit every level of the roster, with a heavy emphasis up front. The Aggies have picked up four offensive line commitments and five Edge/defensive tackle pledges, led by five-star Edge Zyron Forstall.
Quarterback remains a key storyline as Marcel Reed enters his second full starting season and his successor is still to be determined. But Texas A&M already has a potential answer in four-star QB commit Jayce Johnson, who has the traits to develop into the next Aggie signal-caller.
The turnaround at wide receiver has been just as striking. After years of difficulty landing elite receiver talent under Jimbo Fisher, Elko has changed the picture completely.
Transfer receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver combined for 1,836 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, and the momentum has carried into recruiting. Texas A&M signed four blue-chip wideouts in the 2026 class, including standout freshman Aaron Gregory.
That success has rolled right into 2027. The Aggies have landed four receiver commitments from five-star Eric McFarland, four-star Jayden Upshaw, and three-star wideouts Demani Warren and Trey Haddad, all of whom project as future starters and strong fits in new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins’ system.
With five-star cornerback and Texas commit John Meredith reclassifying to the 2026 class, the path looks even clearer for Texas A&M to finish with the No. 1-ranked group. For now, Rivals’ latest update still has the Aggies at No. 1.
