Texas A&M has put itself squarely in the mix for one of the top defenders in the 2028 class.
Five-star defensive tackle Kellan Hall named the Aggies to his Top 12 on Friday, giving Texas A&M a spot alongside Oklahoma, Kentucky, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas and Oregon. The Aggies appear to have real traction here, helped by Hall’s connection with defensive line coaches Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie.
That bond was already evident earlier this summer. In early June, Hall spoke with On3/Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman and had nothing but praise for his first trip to College Station. He said Texas A&M is expected to get him back on campus during one of its seven home games at Kyle Field in the 2026 season.
“I was on campus for a few days, so really got the chance to talk to quite a few players and other recruits. However, the highlight was the camp and working with Coach E.
Rob, Coach Tony, and Coach Malik. I really like how they are intentional about giving guys work during practice and every player has a coach working with them.
I saw this during camp and at practice the day I arrived."
Hall also said he will "definitely be back" for another visit, pointing to Texas A&M’s track record with top defensive linemen out of high school and through the transfer portal. He specifically noted the recent NFL Draft selections of unanimous All-American Edge Cashius Howell, along with defensive tackles Albert Regis and Tyler Onyedim, who went in the second and third rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Hall is currently ranked as the No. 1 defensive tackle in the 2028 cycle, and On3 scout Charles Power describes him as a high-upside front-line talent with rare athletic traits and plenty of room to grow.

Has a large frame that should easily carry 300+ pounds as he continues to physically mature. Tests as an elite athlete, consistently running the 40-yard dash in the 4.8 to 4.9 range at national camps.
A dynamic two-way lineman on Friday nights. Disruptive and productive as a defender in his first two years of high school action.
Touts high-end speed-to-power ability, easily walking back offensive linemen to the quarterback with his bull rush. Has some budding pass rush moves outside of the bull rush and should continue adding to his arsenal.
Capable of lining up at multiple spots along the defensive front. Backed up his strong sophomore season with multiple impressive showings on the camp circuit.
One of the youngest top prospects in the 2028 cycle, turning 16 years old in June prior to his junior season.”

Marcel Reed has spent fall camp giving Texas A&M a much different kind of quarterback conversation than the one that followed him around earlier in his career. The athleticism was never in question, but what has stood out lately is the way hes handling the offense, making cleaner decisions and showing a sharper feel for where the ball needs to go. For a program trying to settle its quarterback outlook, that kind of development matters.
The optimism is real enough that some of the national skepticism around Reed may be getting ahead of itself. Still, camp is one thing and Saturdays are another, and Reeds next step is proving that the growth in command and accuracy carries over when the games count.
