Texas A&M is lining up another major recruiting target for its September home slate, with 2028 five-star wide receiver Jaylen Addai planning an unofficial visit to College Station when the Aggies host Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Addai, the son of former Indianapolis Colts starting running back Joseph Addai, has already been in contact with Texas A&M’s staff and recently spoke with Rivals insider Steve Wiltfong about the connection he’s building with the program.
“It was pretty cool. It was my first talking to Coach Elko and Perry, building that relationship and really getting into the offense, how they do things, how the coaches and the people there are.
Everything was cool,” Addai told Rivals. “I like how they’re always getting their receivers involved from the jump - in the quick game, then taking deep shots downfield and into the end zone.
I love the fan base there. They bring the energy and it hypes the players up.”
The visit comes as Texas A&M continues to stack its early 2028 board. Mike Elko’s staff already has four-star Edge Chance Archangel and five-star quarterback Donald Tabron III committed in the cycle, and Tabron is expected to help draw more playmakers to College Station. The Aggies are also keeping tabs on his starting left tackle, five-star Antijuan Wilkes, heading into the 2026 season.
Texas A&M’s season opener against Missouri State will give the staff another chance to host a long list of prospects across the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes, including five of the Aggies’ six five-star commitments in the No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle. The program will then open the year with three straight home games, with Arizona State and Kentucky following the matchup with the Bears on Saturday.
Addai’s trip adds to the momentum around A&M’s receiver recruiting after the Aggies landed 2027 five-star wideout Eric McFarland, who has a path to competing for a starting role next season.
