Texas A&M’s quarterback future is still being sorted out, but the name that keeps hovering over the conversation is Donald Tabron III.
The Aggies still have redshirt junior Marcel Reed, who is entering his second full starting season, and backup Brady Hart in the mix for what comes next. But if you’re looking beyond the 2027 season, the 2028 five-star quarterback commit is the one to watch.
Tabron has been turning heads early in his junior season at Cass Technical, and the appeal is obvious: he looks like a passer who can hit just about every throw. The out route, in particular, stands out. That kind of throw asks for NFL-level touch and anticipation, and Tabron has already shown he can handle it.
He’s also giving Texas A&M plenty to like about where this is headed under new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins, whose first season at the helm is still ahead. After Tabron chose the Aggies over several blue-blood programs, his conversations with Wiggins and quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch pointed to an offense that should fit a quarterback well. The receiving talent on the way, especially with the 2027 additions, only adds to that picture.
On Thursday night, Tabron put that skill on display in Cass Tech’s road game against Granville. He uncorked one of the best throws of the weekend, dropping a perfect ball to Marquell Evans that nearly became a touchdown. Cass Tech rolled to a 48-21 win, and Tabron is expected back in College Station in the coming weeks.
