Texas A&M’s fanbase just landed near the top of a national loyalty ranking, and the Aggies checked in at No. 2 on Message Board Geniuses’ list of the “Most loyal college football fanbases,” released Monday.
Nebraska took the top spot, but Texas A&M’s placement fits the profile of a program whose supporters have stayed loud, visible and financially committed even through long stretches without matching the heights of the 1990s. The Cornhuskers’ case is tied to their run of three national championships in 1994, 1995 and 1997 under Tom Osborne, while Texas A&M’s own best run came under R.
C. Slocum, who finished his Aggies tenure at 123-47-2 with three Southwest Conference titles and a Big 12 Championship in 1998.
Since Slocum’s departure, Texas A&M has gone through five coaching changes. Mike Elko is now heading into his third season, after leading the Aggies to the College Football Playoff last season.
The loyalty piece is easy to spot in College Station. Texas A&M fans greet each other with “Gig ’em” or “Howdy!”
and stand for every home game at Kyle Field, regardless of how the season is going. The clearest example came in 2022, when the Aggies finished 5-7 but still drew at least 90,000 fans to Kyle Field, even with home losses to Ole Miss and Florida and wins over UMass and LSU.
That level of support carried into last season as well, when more than 100,000 Aggies attended every home game. The biggest crowd came for Texas A&M’s comeback win over South Carolina, when 108,582 were on hand.

The Aggies starter flashed the kind of early-season play that had people around the conference paying attention, and he remains the player most tied to how far Texas A&M can go this fall.
Still, the preseason nods went elsewhere, a reminder that Reeds resume still comes with some uneven moments attached to it.
