Texas A&M went after one of the biggest prizes in the 2027 class, but Landen Williams-Callis is headed elsewhere.
The five-star running back from Houston announced his decision live and picked Texas, giving the Longhorns the in-state win after the Aggies made what was described as a strong, legitimate push all the way to the finish. A&M had hoped to land its first running back in the 2027 class, but Williams-Callis became the latest top target to come off the board.
The Aggies’ pursuit made sense. With a deep group of young backs already on the roster, the position doesn’t look like an immediate need, but the staff still took its shot at a player with the kind of ceiling you don’t pass up.

He’s also viewed as one of the safest bets in the 2027 cycle, a high-floor player at any position with the look of a high-major difference-maker and a path that points toward becoming a legitimate pro prospect.
For Texas A&M, the miss is a setback, but it also shows the level of talent the staff is chasing as it continues building the future of its offense.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Williams-Callis is the 29th-ranked prospect in the cycle, the 3rd-ranked running back, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Texas.
