Texas A&M’s recruiting momentum isn’t slowing down, and another defensive target is now trending the Aggies’ way.
While the program waits for Wednesday’s decision from five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, a new name has moved to the front of the line: 2027 four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen. According to AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway, Allen has continued to lean toward Texas A&M ahead of his July 11 commitment date.
That comes with Syracuse still making a push for the New Jersey native, but the Aggies remain in the driver’s seat.
"At the moment, it’s hard not to like where Texas A&M stands. Syracuse has continued to prioritize Allen and has generated some momentum, but the latest buzz continues to favor the Aggies."
Dobson’s situation has been a little more volatile. Texas A&M had been the favorite for much of the process, but a recent report and official prediction shifted the edge to South Carolina. That kind of late swing has become part of the modern recruiting game, especially in an NIL era where nearly any Power Four program can make a real run in the final 24 hours.
Still, Texas A&M isn’t going away. The Aggies have already shown they can flip the script late, just like they did with five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson after he received a prediction to land at Notre Dame.
And even if Dobson does choose South Carolina on Wednesday, Mike Elko and cornerbacks coach Bryant Gross-Armiento are expected to keep after him all the way through Early Signing Day in December.
As for Allen, his appeal goes beyond the ranking next to his name. His versatility and athletic upside are part of what make him such an important target, even with Texas A&M already adding Henderson and four freshman linebackers from the 2026 signing class. If Allen does end up in College Station, he would be the final linebacker piece in a future rotation that would be built entirely through recruiting.
