Texas A&M Faces A Season Pressure Test At South Carolina

With a mix of talented players returning from injuries and pivotal matchups on both sides, the Texas A&M vs South Carolina showdown promises to deliver excitement on November 7th.

Texas A&M heads into Columbia on November 7, 2026, with plenty to sort out, and South Carolina is waiting with a quarterback who has found his rhythm again and a defense built to make life miserable.

The Aggies and Gamecocks meet at Williams Brice Stadium with kickoff set for 3 PM ET/2 PM CT. ESPN will carry the game, with Roy Philpott on play-by-play, Brock Osweiler handling color commentary, and Stormy Buonantony reporting from the sideline.

Texas A&M comes in at 4-4 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while South Carolina is 5-3 and 3-3.

For the Aggies, the defensive spotlight starts with Daymion Sanford. The captain and top linebacker has been slowed this season after an injury in the spring game, but he is expected to be ready for a full workload here. That matters because South Carolina leans hard on its run game, powered chiefly by LaNorris Sellers and Kendal Briles, and Texas A&M will need Sanford and Mikhail to be sure tacklers all afternoon.

KJ Edwards is another name to watch on the A&M side. South Carolina has been more vulnerable through the air than on the ground, and Edwards may be the kind of back who can force the Gamecocks to defend every inch. Before getting banged up against Alabama, he looked on the verge of a breakout against a tough Tide front, and if he can find room, it could open things up for the Aggies.

Then there’s Mario Craver, who needs to be more than just a threat - he needs to be the threat. South Carolina can be beaten deep, and Craver has the speed to do it.

He was extremely limited against South Carolina last year, and A&M’s early struggles in that game were tied in part to not having him involved. This time, his impact could come not only on vertical routes, but also in the screen game.

South Carolina’s offense runs through LaNorris Sellers, and the quarterback has turned things around after a shaky start. He was a preseason top-five SEC quarterback pick, and that looked premature through the first six weeks.

Since then, he has bounced back in a big way and is playing like the difference-maker he was expected to be. If Texas A&M misses tackles when chasing him, the day could get long in a hurry.

Mazeo Bennett is another Gamecock worth tracking. Nyck Harbor gets much of the attention because of his five-star reputation, but Bennett may be South Carolina’s most reliable clutch receiver.

He missed last year, returned this season, and now leads the team in receiving yards in 2026. He should have chances to pile up catches and create problems for the Aggies in third-and-long.

Up front, Dylan Stewart is the pass rusher Texas A&M has to account for. He may not draw the same national buzz as Colin Simmons, but he is described as a better pure defensive end and a real problem off the edge.

Aggie fans saw that last year in the first half of their matchup, and Texas A&M will need a clear plan to slow him down enough for Marcel Reed to function. It’s a tough ask, but one the Aggies have to try to solve.

Texas A&M Suddenly Has A Real Worry With Top LB Commit

Texas A&Ms recruiting momentum has hit a familiar late-summer stress test with Kaden Henderson, the five-star linebacker who remains committed to the Aggies but is headed to Notre Dame this weekend. Henderson picked Texas A&M over the Irish the first time around, which is why this trip is getting such close attention from Aggie fans who know how quickly elite recruiting battles can shift once other programs get another look.

For now, Henderson has continued to signal that his commitment to Texas A&M is still solid, and the staff has kept a strong relationship with him throughout the process. Even so, any visit to a major rival for a player of his caliber naturally invites concern, especially when the Aggies are trying to hold onto one of the biggest names in their class. [Read more 🡒]

Texas A&M Still Has A Real Shot In One Huge Recruiting Battle

Texas A&M still has work to do in a recruiting battle that has already narrowed to one of the bigger names on the board. Logan Lokey, the 4-star defensive lineman from Denton, picked Oklahoma over several other schools, and the Sooners landed him by selling a fit with Brent Venables and defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis. For the Aggies, it is another reminder that the best battles in Texas recruiting often come down to relationships as much as geography.

Lokeys commitment may not be the final word, though, which is why this one still matters to A&M. The article points to uncertainty about whether he stays locked in if Oklahomas coaching situation changes, and that leaves the door open for other programs to keep pressing. In a recruiting fight this important, Texas A&M can hardly afford to go quiet. [Read more 🡒]

Texas A&M Offense Faces More Pressure After Elkos Latest Decision

Texas A&M heads into Week 10 at 4-4 overall and 1-4 in SEC play, and the offense is still searching for answers as South Carolina comes to town. Mike Elko confirmed that Marcel Reed will remain the starting quarterback, keeping the Aggies pointed in the same direction even as the unit continues to sputter and the three-and-out issues pile up at a rate that ranks among the SEC's worst.

There is at least one encouraging development in the backfield, where freshman running back KJ Edwards has shown improvement and given the offense a small lift. Still, with the Aggies needing a sharper showing to steady their season, the pressure on Reed and the rest of the offense only grows as the schedule tightens and the margin for error keeps shrinking.
