Texas A&M’s 2028 recruiting board is already taking shape, and the early names worth tracking bring a little bit of everything: a quarterback with elite tools, a massive edge defender from Texas, and one of the biggest offensive tackles in the cycle.
At the top of that group is quarterback Tabron, who checks in as the No. 2 quarterback in the class and the No. 27 prospect nationally. He’s already built like a high-end target, with arm talent that jumps off the page and the kind of processing ability that lets him work through a defense and find the right answer.
Texas A&M appears to be in strong position early. The Aggies are considered the favorite to land a commitment from him, and Tabron has already made clear that the program has caught his attention.
"Texas A&M's been on me early, and I respect how Coach Elko runs it. It's not flashy, but about development and winning.
Talking with Trooper Taylor, you feel that energy right away he's real about how they develop backs and play fast," Tabron tells me. "Joey Lynch has been showing me exactly where I'd fit and how the offense would fit to my playing style.
Coming off that playoff run, it's a blue-collar program with a real plan, and that's what I'm looking for."
On the defensive side, Dotson is another name to know. He ranks as the No. 7 edge defender in the class and the No. 61 overall prospect, and he also lands inside the top 10 players in Texas. At 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, he already has the kind of frame that turns heads, and Texas A&M is seen as a real contender for him.
Dotson said the recognition matters, but he’s not easing up.
"It means a lot because all the hard work is paying off but I’m still hungry and focused on getting better every day." Dotson tells the Texas A&M Aggies On SI about his ranking.
Then there’s Knight, a major in-state offensive tackle target who comes in as the No. 14 offensive tackle in the cycle and the No. 118 prospect overall. He’s a huge presence at 6-foot-8 and 345 pounds, and he’s been playing at that size for two years.
Knight is currently viewed as a Texas Longhorns lean, but Texas A&M remains in the mix and could still make the race interesting. For now, the San Antonio prospect looks like another in-state battle the Aggies will have to fight through.

Mike Elko May Have Found Texas A&Ms Next Impact Pass Rusher
Anto Saka arrives in College Station with the kind of profile Texas A&M has been chasing under Mike Elko: a transfer edge rusher whose best football may still be ahead of him. After three seasons at Northwestern, Saka did enough to get noticed, and the Aggies are betting that a change of scenery and a more aggressive defensive setting can help turn his pressure into consistent disruption off the edge.
The early expectation is that Saka will step right into a starting role at defensive end, giving A&M another piece to pair with its pass-rush plan. NFL scouts are already paying attention, too, which adds another layer to why this move matters for the Aggies. If Saka can convert the flashes that have drawn that interest into a bigger season in Elkos system, he could become one of the more important additions on the roster. [Read more 🡒]
Texas A&M Just Landed A Massive 2027 Linebacker Commitment
Texas A&Ms recruiting momentum got another jolt with the addition of five-star linebacker Kaeden Henderson, a move that keeps the Aggies in the thick of the national conversation on defense. The class also picked up another highly regarded linebacker in Mikahi Allen, a versatile prospect whose stock has been rising thanks to his production and all-around impact on that side of the ball.
Allens junior season gave evaluators plenty to work with, and his profile fits the kind of defender Texas A&M has been chasing as it builds out the future of its front seven. The early expectation is that he can develop into a player who competes for a starting job in his second season, which is exactly the sort of long-view payoff that makes these recruiting wins matter well beyond signing day.
