Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed isn’t shy about the talent around him, and at SEC Media Days on Wednesday in Tampa, he made it clear the Aggies’ passing game is built to be dangerous.
Reed pointed first to junior Mario Craver, whose production last season gave him plenty to brag about. Craver finished with 59 catches for 917 yards and four touchdowns, and Reed expects even more from him this fall. Texas A&M’s receiving group also includes junior Terry Bussey, redshirt sophomore Ashton Bethel-Roman and Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton.
“Terry had a tremendous spring, and Ashton is an explosive guy who can take the top off. He is probably faster than any DB in my opinion,” Reed said Wednesday during Day 3 of SEC Media Days in Tampa.
“Mario’s results speak for itself. He did a lot last year and I think he will do even more this year.
He will be someone a lot of teams watch, but he will still make plays.”
Reed has plenty of credibility when he talks about what this offense can do. Last season, he threw for 3,169 yards and was responsible for 31 total touchdowns as Texas A&M opened the year with 11 straight wins and earned a spot in the College Football Playoff.
The quarterback said the pieces around him have him energized for what’s ahead.
“I’m really excited for the people I have around me,” Reed added. “It is going to be really explosive, really exciting. This team is going to be special.”
