Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed had to deal with more than a loss last weekend. After the Aggies fell at home to Kentucky in Week 3, Reed changed his phone number following a doxxing incident, according to a report from On3 on Friday afternoon.
On3’s Carter Karels, who covers Texas A&M, was reportedly told about the number change directly by Reed. The timing lines up with a rough night for the Aggies, who dropped their first game of the season in a home upset and slid to No. 23 in the latest AP Poll.
Doxxing refers to the intentional posting of someone’s private information online without consent, usually with harmful intent.
Reed described what he saw after the game: “I kind of had a feeling it happened, because I got calls like back to back to back to back,” Reed told Karels.
He added, “I’m pretty sure I got called from like 18 different states. But I didn’t answer a single one.
Some you would see like the new voicemail thing, you can see like the words at the bottom. So, I eventually turned my phone off and just ended up watching college football for the rest of the night.
I didn’t pay any mind to it.”
Now Reed turns the page to a much bigger task on the field. Texas A&M heads to LSU on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, with Reed looking to put the incident behind him and help the Aggies bounce back.
