Texas A&M is putting a fresh spin on one of its most recognizable traditions this weekend, and Kyle Field is already dressed for it.
On Wednesday morning, the Aggies unveiled the field setup for Saturday’s Red, White & Blue game, with a red, white and blue logo painted at midfield. Texas A&M also showed off a maroon end zone on one side and a blue end zone on the other as the program leans all the way into the theme.
The Red, White & Blue game has been part of Texas A&M’s identity since 2001, when a group of students launched the idea as a show of American pride in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That first effort came before the Aggies’ game against Oklahoma State, and it turned into something much bigger than a simple color-out. The students sold more than 70,000 T-shirts in about 10 days and raised $235,000 for the New York Fire and Police Benevolence relief funds.
Texas A&M brought the tradition back again in 2021 for its second Red, White & Blue game, this time against Kent State. Maroon Out handled the event, selling roughly 75,000 shirts and directing the proceeds to Texas Task Force 1 and the President George H.W. Bush Points of Light Foundation.
For Saturday’s game, Texas A&M is again tying the look of the stadium to the cause around it. Fans attending the contest can check what shirt color they’re supposed to wear and where to buy one to support the fundraising effort.
The Aggies and Arizona State are set to kick off at 12:00 p.m. E.T. on Saturday on ABC.
