Five-Star CB Sets Crucial Texas A&M Visit

Five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson sets eyes on Texas A&M with an official visit planned, marking a pivotal moment in the Aggies' recruitment drive.

As Texas A&M dives into their spring football season, Coach Mike Elko and his team have been busy hosting a slew of top-tier talent, including the highly sought-after cornerback Joshua Dobson. While Dobson is currently leaning towards LSU, he's set his sights on an official visit to the Aggies, adding a layer of intrigue to his recruitment journey.

Texas A&M has already secured commitments from three elite defensive backs, but Dobson and fellow five-star corner John Meredith are at the top of their wish list as summer approaches. Dobson has circled June 5 on his calendar for his official visit, a date that promises to be bustling with 2027 prospects eager to explore what College Station has to offer.

Dobson's recruitment tour has already taken him to South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame, where he witnessed Texas A&M's thrilling 41-40 victory over the Fighting Irish. This visit provided him with a firsthand look at Coach Elko's game-day prowess, particularly his expertise with the secondary-a reputation that continues to bolster the Aggies' recruiting efforts.

After an unofficial visit to College Station, Dobson was full of praise for Elko and the program's direction, especially following their historic first appearance in the College Football Playoff. Dobson remarked, "I was out there two weeks ago, and, just like everything, coach Elko is a DB coach, so that means a lot to me right there, and just seeing the stadium and the way they go about things."

Currently at Cornelius (N.C.) Hough, Dobson has already made a name for himself, showcasing his skills with a tackle and an interception at the Under Armour All-America Game.

According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the 43rd overall prospect in the 2027 class, the 6th-best cornerback, and the 2nd-ranked player in North Carolina. The Aggies are certainly hoping to make a lasting impression as they vie for his commitment.
