Anto Saka didn’t come to Texas A&M to blend in. He arrived with nine career sacks, a frame built for the edge, and the kind of edge-rushing presence the Aggies were hunting for after losing several of their top defensive athletes, including Cashius Howell.
Texas A&M’s search for a replacement led it to Saka’s junior-year film, and that was enough to convince the staff it had found the right fit. Saka saw it the same way. College Station checked the boxes for him personally and schematically, and he chose to spend his final year of eligibility in Aggieland.
Since then, he has backed up the decision by becoming a leader in the weight room and a disruptive force on the field, fitting the “Wrecking Crew” label in the process. And in a recent interview with TexAgs, Saka made it clear the mindset driving him this season is as ruthless as it gets.
When asked about how he carries himself and his mentality on the field, Saka's reply was sure to instill fear in every offensive lineman on Texas A&M's 2026 schedule.
“I want to make you quit today. I want to own you today.”
That kind of confidence is exactly why Texas A&M believes it has found the player to help soften the blow from Howell’s departure. Saka isn’t talking about simply showing up or holding his own. He’s talking about taking over reps, forcing opponents into uncomfortable places, and bringing that attitude snap after snap.
For the 12th Man, the message is pretty straightforward: the Aggies may have lost one disruptive presence, but they appear to have passed the torch to another one. If Saka keeps playing with that mentality, Mike Elko and the coaching staff should get exactly what they were looking for.
