Alabama’s injury picture got a little clearer on Monday, but not by much, as Kalen DeBoer addressed a handful of players who matter plenty heading into Saturday’s matchup with Texas A&M.
Two names at the top of the list were Zabien Brown and EJ Crowell, both of whom are dealing with lower leg injuries. DeBoer said Brown will be evaluated through the week, while Crowell is expected to try to get back onto the practice field early.
“[Zabien Brown has a] lower leg injury. [We’ll] evaluate [him] throughout the week what he looks like,” DeBoer told reporters.
“[EJ Crowell also has a] lower leg injury… we’ll see where he’s at in the next couple days. I would expect him to practice early in the week.”
Kalen DeBoer on Zabien Brown: "Lower leg injury. Evaluate throughout the week what he looks like."
Racin Delgatty: "Really the same boat. Progressing pretty well, though.
We'll see. He's gonna be week to week."
EJ Crowell: "Lower leg injury. Just kind of continue to evaluate.…

Crowell has been one of Alabama’s most efficient runners this season, leading the team with 6.8 yards per carry despite ranking fourth on the roster in rushing attempts. Brown, meanwhile, has been a difference-maker in the secondary, leading the Crimson Tide with four passes defended and drawing plenty of first-round buzz as a projected 2027 NFL Draft pick.
The timing matters because Alabama is already in a rough stretch. The Crimson Tide has dropped back-to-back games for the first time since 2007, and the latest loss has left DeBoer’s team looking up at the College Football Playoff picture rather than comfortably inside it.
That makes Week 8 feel heavy in Tuscaloosa. Alabama hosts Texas A&M on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
ET on ABC, and DeBoer is staring down a game his team badly needs to stop the slide. Alabama’s last three-game losing streak came back in 2007, when Louisiana-Monroe beat the Crimson Tide 21-14 as part of a four-game skid.

Mike Elko Got A Reset But Texas A&M Still Has Everything To Prove
The win over The Citadel at least gave Texas A&M a clean break from the kind of performance that had hung over the program after the Missouri game, when the Aggies failed to score a touchdown and looked nowhere near the standard they need to reach. For a team trying to steady itself under Mike Elko, even a lopsided result can matter because it offers a chance to regroup, refocus and stop the spiral from looking permanent.
Still, one reset does not change the larger question facing this season. The Aggies have to show they can carry that momentum into games that actually define an SEC year, and that means proving the offense and overall consistency travel against better competition. Until they do, the Missouri loss will feel less like a bad day and more like the clearest warning sign of what this team still has to overcome. [Read more 🡒]
Texas A&M Faces A Bigger Question Than Its Alabama Trip
Texas A&M heads into the Alabama trip with the kind of underdog label that tends to sharpen every conversation around the program, but the bigger intrigue may be happening off the field. Betting lines have reflected the Aggies recent play, yet the more forward-looking chatter around the program has centered on how the roster could be shaped for next season and what kind of quarterback help might be available in the transfer portal.
One name already floating into that discussion is Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele from Cal, a signal that Texas A&Ms attention extends well beyond Saturdays matchup. For a team trying to stabilize its trajectory, the Alabama game is only part of the picture, and the rest of it involves how aggressively the Aggies choose to pursue help at the games most important position. Texas A&Ms Alabama Test May Hinge On One Unsettled Matchup
Texas A&Ms win over The Citadel gave the Aggies a little breathing room, but the real measuring stick is still ahead with No. 13 Alabama coming to town for an SEC matchup. For A&M, this is the kind of game that can sharpen the direction of its season, while the Crimson Tide are trying to stop the slide after back-to-back conference losses and keep their championship and playoff hopes alive.
One of the more interesting pieces of the matchup is Alabamas quarterback situation. Redshirt freshman Keelon Russell has flashed the kind of playmaking that can change a game in a hurry, but he has also had his rough spots in recent weeks, which leaves this trip feeling a little less settled than a typical Alabama visit. For the Aggies, that uncertainty adds another layer to a game that already carries plenty of weight for both teams. [Read more 🡒]
