Alabama Edge Prospect Decommits, Eyes Texas A&M Visit with Elko's New Team

In a surprising turn, top edge rusher Jabarrius Garror reconsiders his commitment, shaking up the 2027 recruiting scene.

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko is gearing up for a pivotal spring practice season. With a fresh coaching staff and a mix of 17 transfer portal additions alongside 26 new recruits from the 2026 class, there's plenty on the agenda. But Elko's eyes are also on the future, specifically the 2027 recruiting cycle, where a major development has caught the attention of Aggie fans.

Jabarrius Garror, a four-star edge rusher who initially committed to Alabama back in July 2024, has recently reopened his recruitment. This shift comes as Texas A&M and Florida State ramp up their efforts to woo the talented defender. Garror is set to visit College Station officially on June 5, marking a crucial opportunity for the Aggies to make their pitch.

Garror isn't just any recruit; he's a game-changer. Known for his fearsome presence on the field, he's racked up impressive stats over the last two seasons at Vigor High School: 210 tackles, 42.5 sacks, and 88.5 tackles for loss, plus seven pass deflections. These numbers underscore why he's such a coveted prospect.

Despite his decommitment, Alabama isn't backing down. The Crimson Tide are keen to bring Garror back into their fold, and he's scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa on June 18. Meanwhile, Garror's recruitment tour will also take him to Auburn in late May and Texas on June 12, just a week after his trip to Texas A&M.

Ranked as the 90th overall prospect in the 2027 class by 247Sports, Garror holds the 12th spot among edge rushers and is the third-ranked prospect in Alabama. For Texas A&M, securing Garror could be a significant boost heading into a summer that's shaping up to be critical for the program's future.
