Aggies Coach Brings Key Piece From Championship Run

Bucky McMillan's strategic recruitment of Neb Exantus to the Texas A&M basketball staff promises to bring seasoned expertise and a proven track record of success to the Aggies' player development program.

Bucky McMillan is making strategic moves to bolster the Texas A&M men's basketball program, with his latest hire being Neb Exantus. Exantus, who served under McMillan as an assistant coach at Samford, played a crucial role in leading the Bulldogs to a series of four consecutive 20-win seasons.

His journey began in Division II with Southern New Hampshire University, where he developed two players into All-Conference honorees. Now stepping into the role of Director of Player Development and Personnel at Texas A&M, Exantus brings a track record that speaks volumes—highlighting his strengths in player development, work ethic, and recruiting.

Before stepping onto the collegiate stage, Exantus honed his coaching chops at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, a nationally ranked high school program known for molding college-ready athletes. His tenure with prestigious AAU outfits like Showtime Ballers and Team Breakdown further sharpened his skills, allowing him to work alongside players destined for the NBA.

During his time at Samford, Exantus was McMillan's right-hand man, helping the team achieve a remarkable run of four 20-win seasons. In the 2024-2025 season alone, Samford posted a strong 22-11 overall record and went 12-6 in the Southern Conference.

The Bulldogs were an offensive powerhouse, breaking the 100-point mark in five games and clinching victories in four of those contests. The home court advantage was palpable, as Samford compiled an impressive 13-3 record at home, channeling the energy of their supporters—a blueprint that Exantus and McMillan now aim to replicate with the Aggies, buoyed by the enthusiastically vocal 12th Man.

This new opportunity at Texas A&M marks Exantus' third collegiate stop and his second foray into Division I basketball, continuing a fruitful partnership with McMillan that now spans five consecutive seasons.
